OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL, USA, and Wemmel, Belgium, January 25, 2011 - VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (NASDAQ: VDSI), (www.vasco.com ), a leading software security company specializing in authentication products and services, today announces that it will be present at the Mobile World Congress in Fira de Barcelona, Montjuic, Spain (FIT booth, reference 2H33).
The Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest mobile industry exhibition featuring leading mobile operators and vendor from across the world. VASCO will be present to put its extended mobile offering in the spotlights: DIGIPASS for Mobile, Virtual DIGIPASS and the recently launched DIGIPASS Nano. With its mobile authentication solutions, VASCO fulfills a growing need by enhancing the security of online service channels through the use of e-signatures and the authentication of end- users.
VASCO’s DIGIPASS for Mobile is a mobile application that can be activated by downloading the VASCO software once and installing it on the mobile phone. Once installed, users can generate OTP’s (one-time password) at any time using their mobile phone as an authentication device. With Virtual DIGIPASS the one-time password will be immediately sent to the mobile phone via SMS after the user has entered his user ID and PIN. This solution can be used as a primary or back-end solution. No software download is required.
VASCO recently launched the latest addition to its mobile offering: DIGIPASS Nano. The solution consists of a thin film that users place over the SIM card, turning the phone into a mobile security device capable of generating one-time passwords and e-signatures. Mobile users will be able to perform secure transactions, access business-critical data or transfer money anywhere at any given time. The solution does not require any specific subscription and is therefore operator independent. Furthermore, DIGIPASS Nano can be deployed by banks and corporations to fit virtually every mobile device worldwide that supports SIM or USIM technology.
“Mobile phone users are quickly adopting mobile applications as the security of these devices is enhanced,” said Jan Valcke, VASCO’s President and COO. “With its mobile solutions, VASCO fulfills a growing need by enhancing the security of online service channels through the use of e-signatures and the authentication of end- users. The mobile DIGIPASS solutions are a reflection of VASCO’s innovation and continuously evolving efforts to bring high-level security to all environments. The solutions allow mobile phone users to embed best-of-breed authentication technology into a familiar, daily-used device.”
