VASCO, InfoCert and Intel
Milan, 13 December 2012 - VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) (www.vasco.com), Intel Corporation Italy and InfoCert S.p.A., sign a Memorandum of Understanding for a future collaboration that aims at enhancing users’ authentication forms in Italy. More specifically they join their forces and put together their expertise to better protect the access to InfoCert’s registered e-mail service Legalmail with MYDIGIPASS.COM.
MYDIGIPASS.COM is VASCO’s hosted consumer authentication tool that provides users with convenient and secure access to their favorite applications, through a single and secure platform. Access to Legalmail – the InfoCert cloud service of registered e-mails, attested with date, time and the assurance that the e-mail is received by the recipient - will be extended to support MYDIGIPASS.COM, thus offering end users a different choice for authentication modes to log on.
MYDIGIPASS.COM natively supports Intel® Identity Protection Technology (Intel® IPT), embedded in all second and third generation Intel® Core™ processor based Ultrabooks™. Intel® IPT offers a simple, tamper resistant solution for protecting data from fraud or threats and can, indeed, be a key component in two factor authentication solutions such as Legalmail.
Integrating MYDIGIPASS.COM yields several benefits for InfoCert, whose customers principally consist of companies, enterprises, associations, government and professionals, representing altogether around 900,000 e-mail boxes. End users will not need any more assistance related to the requirements of new user credential or password changes. Furthermore, user convenience increases as users can choose between different manners of authentication. In closing, an extra layer of security is added as MYDIGIPASS.COM generates ever-changing one-time passwords that cannot be intercepted and stored for later use.
“VASCO, Intel and InfoCert join forces to secure the Italian Internet with MYDIGIPASS.COM. By implementing MYDIGIPASS.COM, InfoCert proves to be a global trendsetter that is constantly looking for improvement and increased security,” says Jan Valcke, President and COO at VASCO Data Security. “InfoCert plans to add at least 100,000 activated users – more than 10% of their current customer base - to the MYDIGIPASS.COM community in 2013.”
“The testing phase of VASCO’s MYDIGIPASS.COM ran on several Intel based Ultrabooks™ – comments Alberto Fabiani, Software & Corporate Resellers Regional Business Manager, Intel Italy & Switzerland -, showed different improvements, both in terms of security levels and simpler user experience. These results acquire a greater importance if we consider that last year nearly one in four (22%)* companies suffered a security breach and 21% faced problems with regards to security of mobile devices. Moreover, another aspect not to be underestimated, we should remember how online customers tend to “recycle” passwords, even when transferring sensitive data.”
“This agreement shows the InfoCert aim to keep enhancing and developing the security components and underlines the attention to customer experience that distinguishes Legalmail family products - says Danilo Cattaneo, CEO of InfoCert. It is an attitude that has always marked us, and that the market has rewarded, as shown by the amplitude and the steady growth of our customer base. Cooperating with prestigious partners such as VASCO and Intel, is a guarantee of success and the best way to achieve our goals.”
