Week In Review: Developer Community - February 20, 2017
Let's take a quick look at what happened for the past week in the Developer Community.
Uniqueness of Ids
When integrating eSignLive into your application, you have the ability to assign custom ids to several fields. For example, you can assign a custom id to your documents. This facilitates integration when you want to retrieve data from eSignLive. However, you cannot have fields of the same type with the same ids. In other words, say you have two documents in a transaction, you cannot assign "contract" as custom id to both documents. Ids have to be unique within a package, but not on an account level. This means you can assign "contract" as an id for the same document in different transactions. The only id that is on an account level is the transaction id (i.e. package id). Link to Post
Position Extraction with Field Validation
The Position Extraction feature ensures that the exact position and size of a field or signature in an uploaded PDF file are automatically retained in eSignLive. Additionally, you can also add validations to the fields you are extracting. A field validator enables you to restrict the range of acceptable values. For example, a validator can require the signer to type a valid e-mail address in your textfield. Link to Post
Handover URL Redirect Parent Frame
A new feature was recently released that you might have missed: eSignLive's Event Notifier. It was introduced in the 10.13.14 and 11.0.5 releases of eSignLive. When embedding eSignLive’s signing ceremony into an iframe, the Event Notifier can send notifications to the parent host application. This is particularly useful if you want to take actions when certain steps of the signing ceremony have been accomplished. After receiving such a notification, you can interrupt eSignLive’s normal flow to perform some asynchronous task (e.g. ask the user to confirm a request), and then notify eSignLive to resume its normal flow.
