Unibet is the first iGaming operator to implement VASCO Data Security’s MYDIGIPASS

Wemmel, 27 April 2016 – From June 2016 Unibet, one of the largest online gambling operators in Europe, will start using the MYDIGIPASS Trusted Digital Identity of VASCO Data Security to verify the registration of its users and to optimise the registration process based on eID data. This fits perfectly in its business policy of Responsible Gaming and zero tolerance against fraud, such as creating false accounts.

By using MYDIGIPASS Unibet.be, being the Belgian market leader, wants to set an example with the aim of improving the Belgian gambling policy and the protection of online consumers."

Belgium will as such be the first country introducing MYDIGIPASS. At a later stage other countries where Unibet operates will follow.

Secure digital play environment

The implementation of MYDIGIPASS fits into the strategy of Unibet’s Player Safety – Early Detection System (PS-EDS), recently named the ‘Innovation of the Year’ in the industry. The strategy underlines Unibet's ongoing commitment to provide a positive gaming experience within a secure digital gaming environment and to promote responsible gaming as part of a sustainable ‘value-adding’ relationship with its customers. To this end the company has in recent years invested more than EUR 250 million in the development of a reliable and secure consumer platform. Unibet is regularly audited by PWC, eCOGRA, G4 and NMi (Dutch Metrology Institute) and others for its compliance with the EU Commission Recommendation 2014/478/EU on consumer protection and responsible online gaming.

VASCO with MYDIGIPASS was certified by the Belgian government as a provider of authentication for online government applications, including Tax-on-web and Police-on-web. MYDIGIPASS is a platform that provides reliable digital identities, giving citizens and players access to online applications based on their identity card (eID). For the growing number of mobile users, there is a free app that serves as a mobile ID card.
