Multi-layered approach to digital identity verification
ID Document Verification
Fraud Prevention
ID document verification helps prevent fraud during customer onboarding.
Image Capture
Capturing a good quality image is vital for accurate verification. Real-time instructions allow users to capture an image of their ID document with the camera on their device.
Document Type Validation
OneSpan Identity Verification has the ability to identify the type of document that is being captured (e.g., US Passport, Spanish ID Card, UK Driver’s License, etc.). This ensures that the correct documents are obtained.
Document Checking
Artificial intelligence (AI) and authenticity algorithms analyze the image to determine whether the document is genuine or fraudulent.
Data Extraction
OneSpan Identity Verification is able to extract several data points per document captured, including dates, ID numbers, images, addresses, text and more. These data points can be stored and provided to the client as required.
Data Comparison
Our solution uses configurable logic to compare extracted document data to a customer’s previously-captured metadata to prove that the customer is who they say they are. The matching logic can be tailored to a client’s specific need using a scorecard based on the demographic of the customers. This ensures an optimal algorithm for the solution.
Biometric Verification Using Facial Comparison
Fraud Prevention
Biometric verification helps establish that a user is the person they claim to be.
Image Capture
The user takes a selfie with the camera on their device. Advanced algorithms extract biometric data from the image and compare it to the image on the authenticated ID document to determine whether the user is genuine.
Customer Presence Detection
Before a captured image or ‘selfie’ can be used for facial comparison, liveness detection can used to prove that a person is genuinely present and that a static image has not been used fraudulently.
Active Liveness Detection
Active liveness detection involves the customer performing an action, for example blinking, speaking or moving their head.
Passive Liveness Detection
Passive liveness detection is achieved with image analysis algorithms, which check elements of the image captured, such as the glare or blur. Active and passive methods can be used together to prove the liveness of an individual capturing a selfie.
Data Privacy
Securely stored as part of the transaction data and permanently deleted in accordance with the defined retention policy
Knowledge-based Authentication (KBA)
Frictionless Verification
Prove that the customer providing the identity information is the owner of the identity by presenting them with questions based on their credit file
Dynamic Questions
Generate dynamic “out of wallet” questions to prove an individual’s identity
One-time Passcode (OTP)
Fraud Protection
Transmit a single-use passcode via SMS to the applicant during the verification process
Trusted Identity Networks
Secure & Convenient Identity Verification
Enable your customers to use their existing credentials with another provider to verify their identity and reduce friction during onboarding
