OneSpan is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our dynamic team. This position is open to candidates who have their residence in Austria as we require the person to be at our Vienna office once or twice per week.

You Will:

  • Design, tune, optimize and monitor AWS DB Services, including SQL, NoSQL, and RDS databases.
  • Implement, manage, and maintain various databases within the AWS environment, including Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL), Oracle RDS, DynamoDB, and DocumentDB.
  • Manage AWS DB instances, ensuring availability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures in line with company policies and AWS best practices.
  • Test, validate, and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with OneSpan DevOps Teams.
  • Maintain development and production environments.
  • Design and implement database backup, recovery, and DR strategies.
  • Practical experience in using AWS blue-green deployment and data migration services.
  • Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
  • Collaborate with developers and other teams to optimize application performance through database tuning.
  • Review, design and develop data models in conjunction with the application development teams and provide strategic solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Root cause analysis of production-related database issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database designs, configurations, and maintenance processes.
  • On-call for production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer and dev support.
  • Experience in creating automation tools for managing relational databases (auditing, account management, backup/restore, maintenance, schema deployment).
You Will Have:
  • B.S in Computer Science or other equivalent technical discipline.
  • 6+ years Database Administration experience with administering and supporting MS SQL Server, NoSQL and other databases on different platforms.
  • 4+ years of working with cloud services like Amazon RDS, DynamoDB and Aurora.
  • 3+ years data modeling experience with conducting performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scalability/capacity planning, in addition to SQL, PL/SQL capabilities.
  • 3+ years IT troubleshooting/problem-solving experience
  • Experience of Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Experience in consultancy role, assisting and mentoring junior DBA staff.
  • Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
  • Excellent SQL and DB performance tuning skills.
